I’m surprised how much I miss Hawai’i. I’m lucky enough to have made an arrangement for myself there, so I’ve been going for 2-4 months at a time since 2016, and it’s beginning to feel like home. But, you gotta make a beautiful life for yourself wherever you are. So, I’m gonna let myself have my sad moment, and then I’m gonna get on with it. My goal this winter is to begin writing book three—as of now, it’s 400 pages of notes—and to get myself in better shape with weights and stretching. AND, get my shoulder working properly again! […]

Here’s to dreaming big dreams, and not letting logistics get in the way of seeing them through to fruition. There’s always a way to get the “impossible” done, just as long as you don’t give up.

As I turned to leave the ocean from swimming today, an enormous turtle was hanging out right in front of me. The first thing I saw was his fin, so I thought it was an eel. I screamed like I was being murdered! Luckily, no one was down here to laugh at me.

The weirdo I call husband. Definitely not an ocean guy, but he’s a good sport (sort of) about it anyway.

Funk is right, I’m a sky-diver afraid of heights. Someone who loves change, but is unnerved by it all the same. Before leaving for Hawai’i, I had no idea why I wanted to come again. Plus, I was afraid of that long flight. Now that I’ve been here 3 months, I don’t want to leave. It’s not easy living inside this body!

Well, the crazy man is back with me in Hawai’i. Since he doesn’t mind, we’re sleeping in separate bedrooms so I can continue soaking in the healing energy of this land. I’m so used to being alone now that he scared the shit out of me coming into my bedroom to say goodnight! He said, “There’s a man in your house, remember, you picked him up at the airport.” Yes, I remember.

This year’s long journey alone in Hawai’i is coming to a close. Funk gets in tonight. We will celebrate being together again by taking our chairs down to the water’s edge, soaking our feet in the gentle waves beneath the full moon and partial eclipse. By the time I pick him up from the airport and bring him down here to the beach it’ll be 4am his time, so he’ll likely be drinking a beer by the water to unwind.
